Derek Hough & Nina Dobrev On A Date... Last Saturday, Nina and Derek hung out with Derek's sister Julianne and Lily Collins at the annual frightfest. Afterwards Nina and Derek went to the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood where they tried to dodge a slew of pesky photographers and failed. So...that's some news about ...um, that. Yeah, I know, this story was kinda boring. Sorry. But keep reading, today's post gets better : ) click here for more on Nina and Derek Lorde is Smart & Cool, so here are some quick facts about her... We've all heard Royals and been like, "Who sings that? I like it." (at least I have) The singer is an artist who goes by the title, "Lorde". But Lorde's real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor & she's my age, 16. She's also super talented & wicked smart (don't laugh, I just got off the phone with my cousin Danielle and she lives in Boston). Anyhow, Ella is from New Zealand and she recently became the youngest singer EVER to grab the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Lorde/Ella whatever her name is, is awesome because she says things like, “Taylor Swift is so flawless, and so unattainable, and I don’t think it’s breeding anything good in young girls. ‘I’m never going to be like Taylor Swift, why can’t I be as pretty as Lorde?’ That’s f---ing bullshit." I couldn't agree more. And later, when reporter-types tried to pick apart her Taylor Swift comment and some other things she'd said, labeling her as a "hater", Lorde/Ella is quoted as replying, "I think there's a funny culture in music that's only happened over the last 15 years, that if you have an opinion about something in music that isn't 100-percent good, you're a 'hater,' even if you have perfectly reasonable grounds for that critique. People will say exactly what they think about a movie or a TV show, and that's fine, but as soon as you say it about a record, you're like some little zombie in a funny dungeon." She's smart; I like her & I will be listening to more of her music. But, that's just my opinion, what do you think? But pretty soon she'll head to Iceland to film a movie that's based on a novel called Burial Rites. The premise sounds really interesting but kind of dark. It's about a woman who murdered her "master" and while she awaits trial, is sent to live on a farm. The people who take her into the farm are apprehensive about living with a woman accused of murder. So, the movie is a look into this part of their (and her) life. Does that sound like something you want to see? Click here to read more
